The library is the methodology centre for the public libraries of 5 municipalities of Alytus County and 8 municipalities of Vilnius County. The library provides professional assistance (consultations, training, research and analysis), cooperates with the libraries of the Vilnius region and their branches, shares information resources, and organises and implements joint projects and events. The library provides informational and cultural services to the residents of the city of Vilnius and the Vilnius region (Alytus and Vilnius counties). The library has assembled a large and valuable collection about locations and noteworthy persons of the Vilnius region.
