Vilnius County Adomas Mickevičius Public Library – Sustainable library

Starting from 2022 Vilnius County Adomas Mickevičius Public Library is implementing a long-term strategy dedicated to the sustainability. In 2022 library published “The Declaration of Sustainability”, which consists of two parts:

1. Sustainable recommendations for all library visitors, partners, suppliers;
2. Recommendations for the staff of the library.

“The Declaration of Sustainability” in the organization has a clear vision and direction on how to achieve sustainable development goals. Library seeks ways to share sustainable ideas and cooperate with its community, communicate with partners, suppliers, contractors and sponsors. Library is committed to find ways to contribute and make world more sustainable. Library declares the values of responsibility, partnership, openness and improvement in its activities. Starting with small steps library hopes to live in harmony with all environment.

Activity plan for a Sustainable library:

• Seasonal exchange fairs of used items.
• Sustainability afternoons. 
• Training program and training for the specialists of Vilnius region libraries.
• Exchange fairs of plants and seeds.
• In 2023 m. library will prepare a methodological tool for sustainability.
• Library will participate in the National and International projects on Sustainability.
